Itinerary

Arrival at Veer Savarkar International Airport → Hotel Check-in → Cellular Jail → Light & Sound Show → Corbyn's Cove

Your Andaman holiday begins with your arrival at Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, the principal air gateway to the Andaman Islands. After completing the arrival formalities, meet your representative/driver and proceed towards your hotel.
The first day is designed to introduce you to both the history and coastal character of Port Blair. After check-in and some time to freshen up, proceed for a visit to the historic Cellular Jail, one of the most important landmarks associated with India's freedom struggle.
The Cellular Jail, popularly known as Kala Pani, was constructed during the British period and became associated with the imprisonment of Indian freedom fighters. The architecture and surviving cells provide an insight into the difficult conditions experienced by political prisoners during the colonial era.

In the evening, attend the Cellular Jail Light & Sound Show, an experience that uses narration, lighting and music to present the history of the prison and the freedom struggle. Thrillophilia's current Andaman package information also highlights the Light & Sound Show as a key Port Blair experience.

After the show, depending on the operating schedule and available time, continue towards Corbyn's Cove Beach, one of the easily accessible beaches near Port Blair. Enjoy a relaxed walk along the coast and take in the tropical surroundings before returning to your hotel.
The evening can be kept relaxed after your flight, allowing you to rest before the early ferry journey to Havelock the following morning.

Port Blair → Havelock Island by Ferry → Hotel Check-in → Radhanagar Beach

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before checking out from your Port Blair hotel.
Proceed to the ferry terminal for your journey to Havelock Island, officially known as Swaraj Dweep. The ferry journey is one of the highlights of travelling through the Andaman Islands, taking you across the Bay of Bengal while providing beautiful ocean views.

Depending on the ferry selected, the Port Blair–Havelock journey generally takes approximately 1.5 hours by faster/private ferry and around 2.5 hours by government ferry. Ferry schedules and travel times are subject to sea conditions, weather and operator schedules.

On arrival at Havelock, meet your transfer representative and proceed to your resort. Complete check-in and take some time to relax.
Later in the afternoon, proceed towards Radhanagar Beach, one of the most celebrated beaches on Havelock Island. The beach is known for its broad stretch of white sand, tropical vegetation and clear blue waters.

Spend the afternoon walking along the beach, relaxing by the shoreline and enjoying the island atmosphere. As evening approaches, stay back to experience the beautiful Radhanagar Beach sunset, one of the signature experiences of an Andaman holiday.

Havelock → Elephant Beach Excursion → Snorkelling & Optional Water Sports → Leisure

After breakfast, prepare for one of the most exciting days of your Andaman Island tour with an excursion to Elephant Beach.
Elephant Beach is known for its clear coastal waters, coral-rich marine environment and opportunities for water-based experiences. It is particularly popular among travellers interested in experiencing the underwater side of the Andaman Islands.

Depending on the operational arrangements and sea conditions, Elephant Beach can be accessed by boat or through an alternative local route. The boat journey itself adds to the island experience, with open sea views and the opportunity to appreciate Havelock's tropical coastline.
Once at Elephant Beach, spend time relaxing by the shore or participate in optional activities.

Optional Water Activities
Snorkelling:
One of the most popular experiences at Elephant Beach is snorkelling. With appropriate local guidance and suitable sea conditions, travellers can explore shallow marine areas and observe coral and tropical fish. Thrillophilia currently identifies Elephant Beach as a major snorkelling location in Havelock.
Jet Skiing:
Travellers looking for a more energetic experience can opt for jet skiing, subject to local availability and weather conditions.
Banana Boat Ride:
A fun group activity suitable for travellers looking for a short adventure on the water, subject to operator availability.
Sea Walk / Other Marine Experiences:
Additional marine activities may be available depending on the day's operating conditions and government/local regulations.

After enjoying the beach and selected activities, return to Havelock and proceed back to your hotel.
The evening is deliberately kept free. Relax at the resort, explore the nearby beach or enjoy a quiet dinner after your day of island activities.
Approx. Boat Journey: Around 20–30 minutes each way, subject to boarding point and sea conditions
Approx. Excursion Duration: 3–5 hours depending on activities
Note: Water sports are optional and generally subject to additional charges, weather conditions, safety restrictions and local operator availability.

Overnight: Havelock Island
Meals: Breakfast
Begin your morning with breakfast at your hotel or resort in Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep). After breakfast, complete the check-out formalities and prepare for your scheduled ferry journey back to Port Blair.

Proceed to the Havelock jetty at the designated reporting time for your ferry. The journey across the Andaman Sea provides one final opportunity to enjoy the beautiful island scenery, with panoramic views of the surrounding blue waters and distant islands. Depending on the ferry operator and service selected, the journey generally takes around 1.5–2.5 hours.

Ferry schedules can vary depending on the operator, weather conditions, sea conditions and operational requirements, so the confirmed departure time should be reconfirmed in advance. It is advisable to reach the jetty with sufficient time for boarding and luggage procedures.

Upon arrival at Port Blair, meet your transfer representative and proceed to your hotel. Complete the check-in formalities and settle into your room. After the ferry journey, the remainder of the day is intentionally kept relaxed so that you can rest and recharge before the early start required for the following day's Baratang excursion.

You can spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel or, depending on your energy level, step out for a leisurely walk around the nearby area. Those who prefer a completely relaxed day can enjoy the hotel facilities and have an early dinner in preparation for the next morning's excursion.

Since the Baratang trip involves an early departure and a long day of road travel, an early night is recommended. Keep your essentials, comfortable clothing, water bottle, identification documents and other required items ready the previous evening.

Approximate Travel Information

Havelock → Port Blair: Approximately 1.5–2.5 hours by ferry
Port Blair Jetty → Hotel: Approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on the hotel location and traffic
Day Plan: Ferry transfer → Hotel check-in → Rest & leisure

Overnight Stay: Port Blair

Meals: Breakfast
Your day begins very early, as the Baratang Island excursion involves a long road journey from Port Blair and is generally planned around the movement of vehicles through the designated convoy system on the Andaman Trunk Road.

Wake up in the early hours of the morning and proceed for your scheduled departure, which may be around 3:00–4:00 AM, depending on the current convoy schedule, reporting point and local operating arrangements. Carry a packed breakfast or arrange an early breakfast with your hotel, as there may be limited opportunities for a full meal during the initial part of the journey.

Drive Through the Andaman Trunk Road & Jarawa Reserve Area

Begin the road journey from Port Blair towards Baratang Island. One of the distinctive aspects of this excursion is the journey through the designated forest corridor along the Andaman Trunk Road.

The route passes through the area associated with the Jarawa Tribal Reserve. This is a protected and highly sensitive region, and visitors must follow all applicable regulations and instructions from the authorities and tour operators.

The convoy system is designed to regulate movement through this section of the road. Travelers should remain inside their designated vehicles and must not attempt to interact with, photograph or offer food or other items to members of the Jarawa community. The reserve should be treated with respect and sensitivity throughout the journey.

The drive continues through dense tropical forests and remote landscapes, giving you a glimpse of the natural environment of the interior parts of the Andaman Islands.

Arrive at Baratang Island & Mangrove Boat Ride

After reaching the Baratang area, continue towards the designated boat point for your journey through the island's mangrove waterways.

The mangrove boat ride is one of the memorable parts of the Baratang excursion. The boat moves through narrow waterways surrounded by dense mangrove vegetation, creating a peaceful contrast to the early-morning road journey.

The mangrove ecosystem is an important part of the island's coastal environment and provides habitat for a variety of marine and terrestrial species. Enjoy the scenery and observe the natural surroundings as the boat navigates towards the area leading to the limestone caves.

Boat operations are dependent on tides, weather conditions, local regulations and operational availability, so the exact route and duration can vary.

Explore the Limestone Caves

After the boat journey, continue towards the Limestone Caves, one of Baratang's most distinctive natural attractions.

The caves have been formed over long periods through natural geological processes, creating unusual limestone formations, passages and textured rock surfaces. The journey to the caves also involves walking through the surrounding tropical landscape, making the experience a combination of nature exploration and adventure.

As you explore the cave area, take time to observe the naturally formed rock structures and geological patterns. The ground can be uneven and slippery in places, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Visitors should avoid touching or damaging the natural formations and should follow instructions provided by local guides. Carrying sufficient drinking water is also advisable, particularly during warmer months.

Visit the Mud Volcano

Continue the excursion with a visit to the Mud Volcano, another unusual natural feature associated with Baratang Island.

Unlike a conventional volcanic mountain that produces molten lava, a mud volcano releases gases and mud through natural geological activity. The Baratang mud volcano provides an interesting opportunity to observe this type of geological phenomenon in a tropical island environment.

The site is relatively different from the coastal landscapes experienced during the earlier Andaman island visits, offering a glimpse into the geological diversity of the region. Spend some time at the site, learn about the natural process behind the formation and capture photographs before continuing the return journey.

Return Journey to Port Blair

After completing the Baratang sightseeing, begin the return journey towards Port Blair. Depending on the day's schedule and convoy movement, the return drive can take several hours.

The journey back provides an opportunity to relax after a full day of sightseeing. You are expected to reach Port Blair by evening, although the exact arrival time can vary considerably depending on convoy schedules, road conditions, traffic, weather, boat operations and sightseeing duration.

Upon reaching Port Blair, return to your hotel and freshen up. After such an early start and a long excursion, the evening is best kept free for rest. Enjoy dinner at the hotel or at a nearby restaurant before retiring for the night.

The Baratang excursion is one of the more adventurous days of an Andaman itinerary, combining forest landscapes, the Andaman Trunk Road, mangrove waterways, limestone formations and a unique mud volcano experience. The early departure and long travel time make it a relatively demanding day, but it also provides an opportunity to experience a very different side of the Andaman Islands beyond the beaches and coral reefs.

Approximate Travel Information

Port Blair → Baratang: Approximately 100–115 km by road, depending on the route and starting point
Road Travel Time: Generally around 3.5–5 hours each way, depending on convoy movement, road conditions and traffic

Baratang → Port Blair: Approximately 3.5–5 hours by road

Important Baratang Travel Notes
The departure time and convoy schedule are subject to change, so the final reporting time should be reconfirmed locally.
The Jarawa Tribal Reserve is a protected area. Travelers must follow all government regulations and instructions from authorities.
Do not photograph, approach, communicate with or offer anything to members of the Jarawa community.
Carry a valid government-issued identification document as required for the journey.
Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy walking shoes for the limestone cave excursion.
Carry drinking water, sunscreen, sunglasses and basic personal essentials.
Boat rides and cave visits may be affected by tides, weather and local operating conditions.
The Baratang excursion is a long day, so adequate rest the previous evening is recommended.
