The drive to Gangtok is among the most beautiful routes in Eastern India. As you leave the plains of Siliguri behind, the road gradually climbs into the mountains alongside the stunning Teesta River. Flowing turquoise waters, hanging bridges, pine-covered slopes, small hillside cafés, and misty valleys create a breathtaking first glimpse of Sikkim.

By afternoon or evening, reach Gangtok and check in to your hotel. Relax for a while before stepping out to enjoy the lively atmosphere of MG Marg, Gangtok’s most famous promenade. After breakfast, begin a beautiful local sightseeing tour through Gangtok.

Your first visit is the famous Rumtek Monastery, one of the most significant monasteries in Sikkim and a major center of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is surrounded by peaceful hills and offers beautiful traditional architecture along with a calm spiritual atmosphere.

Continue to Tashi View Point, one of Gangtok’s most popular panoramic spots. On a clear day, travelers are rewarded with mesmerizing views of the Kanchenjunga range and surrounding valleys.

Next visit Hanuman Tok, a peaceful temple located at a higher altitude above Gangtok. The atmosphere here is serene and the mountain views are spectacular.

Later proceed to the colorful Flower Exhibition Centre, home to seasonal Himalayan flowers and orchids that showcase Sikkim’s incredible biodiversity.

The evening is free for leisure. Explore local cafés, try traditional cuisine, shop for souvenirs, or enjoy a peaceful walk through Gangtok.

Today begins one of the most exciting parts of your North East tour package—your journey into North Sikkim.

After an early breakfast, depart from Gangtok toward Lachen. The drive offers dramatic Himalayan scenery and some of the most beautiful mountain roads in Northeast India.

As the altitude rises, the landscape changes beautifully—dense forests, waterfalls flowing from mountain cliffs, deep valleys, and winding roads create a memorable experience.

Pass through Chungthang, a picturesque Himalayan town where the Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu rivers meet. This small mountain settlement is an important gateway to North Sikkim and offers incredible natural beauty.

Continue through multiple scenic stops and waterfalls before arriving in Lachen by evening.

Check into your hotel and relax. Lachen’s peaceful mountain atmosphere, cool air, and quiet surroundings feel completely different from city life.

Begin before sunrise for one of the most extraordinary experiences included in premium North East India packages.

Drive toward the legendary Gurudongmar Lake, located at an altitude of around 17,800 ft, making it one of the highest lakes in the world.

The route itself feels magical—rugged mountains, dramatic barren landscapes, changing colors across the Himalayan peaks, and high-altitude beauty unlike anywhere else in India.

Upon reaching Gurudongmar Lake, witness crystal-clear blue water surrounded by towering Himalayan mountains. The atmosphere is peaceful, raw, and incredibly memorable. Due to the altitude, travelers usually spend limited time at the lake before returning.

Drive back to Lachen for breakfast and short rest.

Later continue toward Lachung. The route again offers beautiful mountain views, waterfalls, pine forests, and quiet Himalayan villages.

Drive to the beautiful Tsomgo Lake, located around 38–40 km from Gangtok at approximately 12,300 ft above sea level. This glacial lake is surrounded by mountains and changes color beautifully throughout the day.

Continue to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a revered destination associated with Indian Army history and local legend.
